Vigil held for Burney man who died after being set on fire
by no password invigil help for burney man who died after being set on fire.
community members shared their memories of wicks, a member of the jehovah's witness hall in burney.
many of them remember him from his post at the shell station, where he worked along with his wife.

Wow I did not know he was a JW. But being a apostate cuts off all ties with Burney area. I have been in and out of the Shell station when I would go on service calls to repair trucks east of Burney. Repaired several in the parking area of the Shell station through the years.
The area has changed from a working mans town ever since the spotted owl shut down the logging. The whole Northern Calif has changed from being lumber communities to pot growing. Sad. When I first read about the attack this mornings paper it was very depressing as to the inhumanity that has made its way to a small community, now to learn he was a JW makes it all that much more saddening.
Burney/Johnson Park has two Kingdom Halls the old one [I gave public talks there] right next to a new one, I guess the got bit by the drive to build newer hall and could never unload the old one. They set side by side, the old one deserted.

The con is completed - comments from the US branch's LDC chief
by sir82 inrecently attended a special assembly day.. guest speaker was thomas chicky, a member of the us branch committee and the head of the us ldc (which has replaced the rbcs).. the last talk of the day is scheduled for an hour.
it was the usual boring mumbo-jumbo.
he appeared to have blasted through his hour-long outline in just about 45 minutes, so he "treated" us to informal comments on recent developments.. he commented on the new wt complex in fishkill ny.. then he dropped the bomb (well, to anyone with ears and at least 2 functioning synapses).. the following is not a word for quote, but presents the gist of his comments:.

Was kidnap victim Sherri Papini a JW?
by NikL insherri papini is that woman kidnapped in california and released on thanksgiving day making the news right now.. during one of the reports this morning on the today show there was a quick scene of an investigation going on at a kingdom hall.
there was crime tape up and everything.
credit goes to my wife for catching it.. i just wondered why the kingdom hall was a crime scene when she was abducted and released somewhere else?anybody else catch this?.

She was not a JW. She was branded with a message. The Sheriff is fighting the release of information, he did not want her husband to release info about the branding. As of yet what the message contained has not been released. When that becomes known then the vast majority of speculation will be put to rest.

I haven't heard any reference of her being a JW. Her step-father [I think, not exact on relationship] was a really big time business man in the area who went bankrupt, who had no connection with the JW's. So even though the 'iron curtain" of JW shunning surrounds me, I would of heard something.

In the 2013 RC talk on "Human Apostates" they mentioned a apostate using a new tactic of writting letters to the homes of individual publishers [NY since 1989, individual residences since 2004]. I am that "apostate". Hence I follow the site very close for the purpose of keeping abreast with the latest happenings. The church is VERY effective in using shunning as a tool to erect a very high fence between 'their people' and 'apostates' so there is no communication. BUT the internal 'grapevine' with in the church works very well, get the information into the 'grape vine' and it gets spread to the those of whom are my targeted elders [every letter gets sent to church Service Dept. by a designated elder].
You are right there seems to be a large number of 'glass half empty' posters. If you wanted to go back and read my posts I connected the biggest story to come out of the new RNWT to a VERY controversial 1987 Wt article "A Time to Speak" When" that sets out church policy on informing on the brotherhood. Yet to date no one of the 'glass half full' posters have taken the time to make the connection that the WTBS did more than shoot themselves in the foot when they released the RNWT as it clearly shows WTBS policies to be apostate in substance.
This is a timely post as locally there is a lot of consternation going on with in the elder community in the Redding Ca. area. In my last few letters I made connection between Lev.5:1, Deut.22:25-27 and 1Pet.2: 14-16. The results being that my disfellowshipped son [now living with me] during the past two weeks has had four sets of instructions as to elders wanting to set up a meeting with to talk, one being we think the circuit overseer. Yet the meetings were changed then postponed. This being Sunday the last of circuit overseer visit to son's home cong. we will see if it is either going to be on or back to silence. That should be pretty unprecedented that they would be the one to initiate contact with a disfellowshipped person.
So yes this site has been valuable for information to be used in a mental chess match between myself and the church Service Dept. that is played out on the chess board of the local church grape vine.

my dad had sexually molested my sister, sandy, repeatedly.
my dad got probation from the judicial committee.

Yes there were some real people in that era. I am 70 and veiewed the generation proir as indeed the greatest generation in this country. Those who went through the great depression, WW 2. Those were the people who made the JW religion respectable. In the JW community there were individuals [both men and women] who were the father and mother figures. It was said somewhere " it takes a village to raise a boy OR girl" and it was folks like Larry who left their mark on us 'baby boomers'.
But all that has been eroded by the "obedience to the organization mantra". The WTBS is now a "system" and those who know how to work a system are the elders who leave their mark on the younger generation. Big diffrence between how those of us 'baby bomers' turned out, having ' Larry Ranch's' as father figures compared with the present day crop of JW young adults.
